Pneumonia-The Inflammation of Lungs

Pneumonia refers to the acute inflammation of the lungs, a serious infectious disease. There are two types of pneumonia, lobar pneumonia and bronchopneumonia. Both types of pneumonia run into each other & are treated in the same way.
Normally, when we breath, the sacs in our lungs fill with air, but during a case of pneumonia, they fill with fluid and pus, making it difficult to breath. It also becomes difficult for our vital organs to get the oxygen they need to function properly, which means pneumonia can affect many of the body’s systems.
Symptoms of Pneumonia:
Generally you feels chill, shivering, difficulty in breathing and sharp pain in the chest.
Initially you may have cough with pinkish sputum which may later become brownish.
In more serious cases of pneumonia, the sputum may be of rusty colour.
Most person usually suffers from fever and headache & feel very miserable and sweat profusely.
In your children, the disease may cause delirium and convulsions.
A common complication of all kinds of pneumonia is pleurisy.
Treatment of Pneumonia with Beneficial Home Remedies:
Take juice of fruits such as orange, mosambi, apple, pineapple and grapes and vegetables like carrots, tomatoes.
Follow the raw juice diet for five to ten days depending on the severity of the disease.
In this regimen you should take a glass of fruit or vegetable juice diluted with warm water every two or three hours.
After a diet of raw juices, when the fever subsides, you should start taking an exclusive fresh fruit diet such as apple, grapes, pineapple, mangoes, orange, lemon and papaya for further three to four days.
Thereafter, you may gradually adopt a well-balanced diet of natural foods consisting of foods , seeds, grains, vegetables and fruits with emphasis on fresh fruits and raw vegetables.
You must avoid strong tea, coffee , refined foods, fried foods, white sugar, white flour and all products made from them, condiments and pickles. Also avoid all meats as well as alcoholic beverages and smoking.
You should sip cold water at short intervals so long as the fever continues. The cold water acts as cooling agent to feverish blood.
Take this tea daily about four to five cups till your condition improves, you may add lemon to have flavour. Fenugreek will allow your body to correct respiratory problems within few days.
Make a paste of a few cloves of garlic and rub it on your feet before going to bed. Put on your socks and go to sleep.
Blend milk and water in the ratio 1:4 and blend 1½ teaspoons of garlic paste. Boil till it reduces to ¼. Have this drink 3 times a day; continue consuming it till you feel better.
You can also have it in the form of sweet and sour chutney. Crush some cloves of garlic, and mix 1 teaspoon of lemon and 1 teaspoon of honey to it, then stir well. Have a teaspoon, at least, 4 times every day.
Garlic is used for many years in pneumonia as it brings down the temperature as well as the pulse & respiration within 48 hours.
Gargle with salt water, at least, 3 times a day. It will help clear the respiratory tract and clear your chest off any cough.
Ginger is also an important remedy for pneumonia, grate a piece of ginger and extract its juice. Blend 1 teaspoon of honey and a few drops of lemon juice in it. Have this every day before going to bed.
Mustard is an antioxidant and can help open up the pores of the skin. To make a mustard pack, mix equal quantities of wheat flour and mustard seed powder. Now blend it with one egg and a bit of water. Apply this paste on your chest and leave it on for 20 minutes. Use the pack two times in a week.
Sesame Seeds (til) are valuable in pneumonia . Take sesame seeds mixed with a tablespoon of linseed, add pinch of common salt & a dessert spoon of honey. This will help remove catarrhal matter and phlegm from the bronchial-tubes.
Parsnips contain many vitamins and are high in potassium, which is ideal for treating pneumonia. Drink a glass of freshly made parsnip juice every day.
Cayenne pepper helps the body release mucus from the respiratory tract, which makes it easier for the patient to breathe. Fill a jug with 250ml of water, add 1 tsp of lemon juice and sprinkle a little cayenne pepper. Drink the water, at least, 4 to 5 times every day.
Pumpkin Leaf is also very beneficial remedy for pneumonia. Fry some pumpkin leaf stalks in olive oil, allow them to cool & then make a paste. Apply & massage this paste over your ribs to get relief from pain caused by pneumonia.
The pain of pneumonia can also be relieved by rubbing turpentine oil over the rib cage & wrap warm cotton wool over it.
Plantain is an another remedy for pneumonia, it is also known as the mother of all herbs. Its leaves have purifying properties that help clear the infection in the lungs.
To make a cup of plantain tea, use equal portions of plantain herb and thyme herb and combine it with 150ml of boiling water. Let the mixture steep for a few minutes, before you drink it. Have 5 cups in a day.
Elderflower is an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antiviral herb that is rich in vitamin A and C. Boil 150 ml of water and add 4 grams of dry elderflower. Let the mixture steep for 20 minutes and drink ½ a cup once in a week.
Goldenseal helps the body boost its immune system, by clearing away any infections in the body. It also assists in killing any bad bacteria, which ultimately improves the digestive system. You can easily find goldenseal tea bags at herbal shops. To prepare the tea, dip a bag in a cup of water and allow it to steep for about 7 minutes. Remove the bag and add milk, honey or sugar, as per your taste. Drink a cup of goldenseal tea three times in a day.
If you are pregnant or are nursing a child, it is advisable to consult your doctor before you have this tea.
Huang Qi (Astragalus Herb) The Chinese have used astragalus herb as part of their traditional medicine for years, as it helps boost the immune system. However, before you try this herb, consult your doctor, as it may react with other prescribed medications.
In a pan, soak some shredded Astragalus roots, a few cloves and a cinnamon stick in water and leave overnight. Next morning, put the pan on the gas and simmer for half an hour. Take two tablespoons of this liquid every day in the morning.
Causes of Pneumonia:
Other causes of diseases are fungal infection, irritation by worms, inhaling foreign matter, irritant dust or noxious gases and vapours such as ammonia, nitrogen dioxide or cadmium.
The real cause of pneumonia , however, is the toxic condition of the body, especially of the lungs and air passages, resulting from wrong feeding and faulty life style.
Generally persons with healthy tissues and strong vital force are unlikely to catch pneumonia.
Persons who suffer from pneumonia should quit smoking.
Rest as much as possible.
